Where is Brad's memorial? Is there any place where we can send money, etc.?

Brad was actually cremated, and his ashes were scattered in the surf, but there is a memorial, outside of Anaheim.

Westminster Memorial Park
(Orange County California).
South end of the park on Shakespeare Lane
Section 31, Grave 114, Marker 7
14801 Beach Boulevard
Westminster, CA 92683
Telephone: (714) 889-9901

If you want to donate I would recommend The Nowell Family Foundation. This is administered by Brad's family and is raising funds to open a rehabilitation center for musicians to open in 2018. They plan to offer these services at little to no cost. Great cause and a great way to honor Brad's memory!

Right now they are selling limited edition Bradley's House t-shirts for $25, so get one before they sell out.

Trivia

Did Sublime do a cover of No Woman No Cry, et al.?

No, the group Murder One in fact did the version of No Woman, No Cry often attributed to Sublime. Click here for more info on Sublime's other covers.

Who's this Raleigh Theodore Sakers cat?

The crazy guy from the Robbin' the Hood album. Much debate has been had over whether he's a real dude, or someone playing crazy. Click here and decide for yourself.

Why is the song called April 29th, 1992, but in the song he says April 26? What's the deal? Why are these dates important anyways?

As you may or may not know, Brad liked to dabble in the use of mind-altering substances such as drugs and alcohol. Therefore, a lot of times, you will hear him do two different version of the same song, with messed up, mixed up lyrics. There are several threads in the Lyrics section discussing this. Now as far as the actual dates and their importance goes...
April 29, 1992 a jury acquitted 3 white police officers of their involvement in the videotaped beating of a black man named Rodney King, and they reached no decision with regards to the charges against the fourth officer. During that time, the city of Los Angeles was very racially divided, and the verdict sent many people over the edge, resulting in the most damaging, widespread riots in American History. The riots happened all across the country, but L.A. was by far the worst.

Who/what is KRS-ONE? What does it stand for?

KRS-ONE is a rapper and musician. It stands for Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everything.

What does "187" mean?

"187" is police radio code for homicide.

What does heina mean? Ruca? Sancho? Mexi (Mixie)?

* Heina is Spanish/Mexican slang for your woman or girlfriend.
* Ruca is the other woman...a.k.a. the one you are cheating with.
* Sancho is your woman's other man.
* Mexi (or Mixie, depending on who you ask) was another woman Brad liked. Could be Mexi, because in Caress Me Down, he talks about a woman on the other side, i.e., the other side of the border, in Mexico.
*All of the Spanish lyrics can be found and translated on https://sublimespot.com/sublime/albums/ (Thanks Karla!)

What was the name of Brad and Eric's first band?

Sublime Expanded Universe

Who are some of these people I hear about in the songs/videos/stories?

Of course the original Sublime lineup was Brad Nowell, Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson. This section is about all the other people in the LBC universe. As you will see, there is a LOT of overlap…

Opie Ortiz-The tattoo GOD. Designed the Sublime Sun amongst many other things. Member of LBDAS. Also the dude on the cover of Robbin' the Hood. Was also in Dubcat.

Michael "Miguel" Happoldt-Manager extraordinaire, met Bud and Eric when he was still a music student and formed "The Juice Bros." Member of LBDAS, Volcano and Perro Bravo. Skunk Records co-founder.

Matt Vargas-Mentioned in STP, Kelly's brother.

Kelly Vargas-Played drums, popular rumor is that Kelly was also a certain Raleigh Theodore Sakers guy too, although this has never been confirmed.

RAS-MG a.k.a. "Field" Marshall Goodman-drummer on 14 of the tracks on 40 oz. to Freedom while Bud was in rehab. Co-wrote several other songs. Member of LBDAS and Dubcat. I heard he is now a City Councilman in Cali.

Bert Susanka-Lead singer of "The Ziggens" and general LBC institution.

Troy Holmes/Nowell/Dendekker-Married Brad on May 18, 1996, one week before his death. Jakob's mom.

Jakob Nowell-Brad's son, born June 8, 1995. Now the lead singer of the band "LAW".

Todd Forman-Sax player on 40 oz. to Freedom, Robbin' the Hood and Self-titled albums

Chris Hauser-Trumpet player on 40 oz. to Freedom

Todd "Z-Man" Zalkins-One of Brad's good friends, recently made the documentary The Long Way Back about his battle with addiction

George "G-Man" Harris-Sublime collector, sells tons of rare items on eBay

Jim and Nancy Nowell-Brad's parents, of course

Jason Westfall-Another manager

Jack Maness-Member of LBDAS and of Dubcat. Played guitar on Rivers of Babylon.

RAS-One-Member of LBDAS and Long Beach Shortbus, real name is Richard Arthur Smith.

...and of course Lou Dog-named after Brad's grandfather. Miguel took care of him after Brad's death. Lou went to the moon on September 17, 2001.
