Help, suggestions on a new guitar

Post by whiterson » Sat May 10, 2008 11:06 am

ive been playing an acoustic for a little bit now and i want to step it up to an electric
love the sublime sound obviously
looking to spend close to 500
i like either fender or ibanez, any suggestions?
can the fender play the more punk stuff like sublime, ibanez seems like more of a rocker guitar if that makes sense but i really dont know much about em

any suggestions?

Fender Strat is a good guitar,
and there are the Squirer Strats, which sound similar and are cheap as fuck.
And there are the Squirer Bullet Strats, which sound fine and are even cheaper than the Squirer Strats.
I've owned all 3, and been quite happy with them.
And Sublime sounds good, mess with the pickup selection and tone and you can get it to sound pretty good.
I've never owned an Ibanez electric, but my host brother has one and Sublime songs sound pretty good on it as well. But then againn, his guitar cost a hell of a lot more than the Fenders.

My suggestion to you: go into the shop a couple times, play with a few dif guitars and amp setups, and see which you really prefer. And if you have somebody who's been playing guitar for a long time, say perhaps a guitar teacher, ask him/her for their input as well.

Hope that helps :P
