This sounds like he is refering to his salvation through Jesus Christ...in fact the whole first part of that song sounds that way to me...

Also, the extended intro to Greatest Hits...

...I did read the citations above that insist he is an atheist, but I have always believed in Bradley's salvation...

The songs that you mentioned are both covers... so those lyrics did not technically come straight from Bradley's heart. Besides, those songs talk about Jah, not Jesus.

yes infix is right those are cover songlyrics

they also say this in the book
pg. 119 crazy fool.

quote; Most of his friends were macho hardcore misogynist. If you're drunk all the time you might not have the time for clarity, which is a shame that he died when he did because imagine him sober--singing about other things, singing about his real thoughts on God instead of grabbing on Bob Marley's thoughts on God.

You're right, pg 60 says

"But Brad was a scholar. He didn't buy into traditional religious teachings. His mom was a Jesus freak, and it turned him off to Christianity because he had it forced on him at a young age... Jesus wasn't the answer for him." -Bud Gaugh

However, he sang about religious stuff a lot...

Ain't got no quarrels with God, ain't got no time to grow old, Lord knows i'm weak... -Badfish
I pray to Jesus Christ but you wont get too far -Had a DAT
Love Jesus, don't forget to pray -Cisco Kid
God knows I'm not going back -40 Oz To Freedom
Glory please have God coming from heaven above... -New Song
Jesus and her mom are gonna break your arm -Superstar Punani
If God's good word goes unspoken, the music goes all night -Don't Push
Real, real, real, Jah so real to me... -Great Stone
Look youthman, Jah Jah is calling... -Steady B Loop Dub

These are the only ones I can think of right now. Anyone know any more?

Not from his heart is pretty harsh...he may not have written the words, but he sure sounds like he sings that shit from his heart...besides, I thought he wrote Greatest Hits, including the extended intro verse?

...and it was eluded to earlier about the father and the son being one in the realm of Christianity...there are many different words for "God" and Jah is one of them, but it's the same God...just like Yahweh, Allah, Lord, and of course, Jesus Christ (considered the son of God and one with the father)...it is all rooted from Judaism and through David...so Jah is God, and the father (God) and the son (Jesus) are one...it doesn't matter what "name" he used at what time, Bradley sang about God/Jah/Lord constantly...they are all the same though...

About the lines coming straight from his heart- Of course everything he sings is passionate... but I think that the songs in which he truly spoke about himself (like poolshark) are the ones that teach us most about Brad's personality.

And yeah... nice spot in saying that all those religions came from the same source, because your exactly right. And yes, he sang about those things constantly.

"All the people pitied give up to Jah, he just reigns supreme, ooohhhhhhhh..." -Battle Bradley Dub

...he wrote these, right?

he did sing about god 40 oz to freedom great s trenchtown rockers god is god whether it's a cover or not.

and hey I could not find the long explination about santeria but this is what thy say on songmeanings.net Thinkin simple this is just a song about breaking up and fing your way back . but to this guy it meant that is over jakob ( I really wanna sa my baby) and struggling with heroin addiction. Now where is the crazy fool book potrait of a punk they refer to that I do not know or cannot remember , but qould this make any sense to any of you guys???

03-22-2007

Rated 0 alright no one in six pages has mentioned this so im wondering if anyone's even heard it. supposedly in the book portrait of a punk, it talks about how brad wrote this song for his son jakob and that it has to do with his heroin addiction and trying to quit. (i.e. "and i'll make it") much unlike the song poolshark where he says "one day i'm gonna loose the war"...anyone hear anything regarding this?

The stone that the builder refused shall be the head corner stone. And even though it's a Marley song he says when I get to the other side I'm gonna shake the hands of the elders. Alot of subliminal "god, Jah, Jesus talk if you ask me. He definately believed in heaven or something like it. All I know is I believe he is with the elders telling everyone good morning. :D
