eric's lines were definitely what drove the band's unique sound. he and bud dont get enough credit for the success of sublime. dont get me wrong, brad was great, but its always brad this and brad that. they only contribution from eric and bud u ever hear about is bud going to rehab or something like that. they deserve a lot more credit than they receive.

did they ever send brad to rehab? i know eric locked him in the house and shit, but was he ever told he had to go to a rehab facility?

in my opinion, all sublime songs are reconizable with just drums...

Bass is the major part of Sublime, the guitar has it's good solo's but most of the time it just does the wa-ah wa-ah reggea clicks you know, so I would say bass.
It's a very strange system...

not downgrading him he is a great drummer. But anyone can play the stuff he did. In 40oz almost everything was done by another drummer... or 808.

besides in reggae drums are secondclass, its the bass that can play the juicy stuff. thats why reggae was made, the bassline was upgraded.

i was thinkin about this post earlier today (shows you what kind of "life" i have). i think that all the instruments are absolutely incredible. i could listen to just the drum tracks, just the bass tracks, or just the guitar tracks. they are explosive idividually, and untouchable when combined. but if i had to pick one, i would say the guitar, only because you can sing easier to guitar than you can to drums or bass.

Brad says it himself, that the base is most important.

The guitar is only on the upbeat 1 AND 2 ANd 3 AND 4 AND <---the guitar is played on the ands. In Reggae or Ska, or Dub the Base is the front runner of Sound. Eric is/was an amazing musican and so was Brad, and Bud, but Without eric Basslines imagine Sublimes Songs? I can't. other than Brad's voice, the only thing I hear when A Sublime Song comes on the Jukebox at my local watering hole is the bass. Most of the Drums on 40 oz were drum machine, same with Robin the hood. And brad who could play some sick sick solos, mostly used power chords, and a few suspended Chords.
